2 males and 1 female. Twilight picture. The beige belly with the dark brown patch of the males is characteristic compared to the rather similar California Quail.

Male at the back and female in the middle. Both without scaly nape and with strong red brown flanks with white streaks. The male shows well the reddish crown, much more colorful than the same shown by male California Quail.
