Subspecies: - Male with red top. Frequently see mixed birds here in the park. Gila normally doesn't have this much yellow on the nape, nor above the bill. On the contrary Golden-fronted doesn't have streaked tail feathers. All characters mentioned are seen in the photos, and based on these this bird would fit a normal Golden-fronted well. The character that deviates is the upper tail and rump, where Gila normally has this part streaked, as seen in the photo 3, and Golden-fronted normally shows a large white patch. Hybrid |
