2019-10-28 Amager Strandpark, Denmark Subspecies: anser (by location) A collection of different birds roosting and foraging on the large short cut lawns in the park. The birds are wild and not local, but have adapted to human presence in this and other parks around Copenhagen, allowing people to get close. At other natural habitats, like Kalvebod Fælled at the other end of the island, they never allow this to happen. It's a species with little difference between ages and sexes. The bill color is different from bird to bird, some showing pinkish where others are more orange, but it has to do with natural variation rather than systematic traits. As seen in some of these pictures a few sometimes show a narrow edge of white at the bill base, creating a faint resemblance with Greater White-fronted Goose. |

2023-04-24 Amager Fælled, Denmark Vagthussøen. Found the nest like this today with no adults nearby. The weather has been wet and cold all day, why I doubt that the parents under normal circumstances would leave the eggs exposed like this voluntarily. Strange though that they haven't bee predated by the many crows in the area... Egg |
