KM 211. A pair. Female the drab brownish one, and the male with bluish tones, but otherwise the two look much the same. The strong demarcation between breast and belly is characteristic for the species even though juvenile Purple Martin might look very similar, but the dark throat and breast of Sinaloa extends further down toward the belly and is also more intense in color. The dark underwing coverts and the strongly clefted tail are also characteristic for the species, as is the dark flank line, which is rather difficult to see in these photos. There was only one pair this year at this previously very reliable site. |
