2017-12-19 Volcán Nevado de Colima, Mexico Subspecies: ? Adult male. As always you have to see the hummingbird directly head on to be able to appreciate the colored throat patch. The pale color on the head is pollen, which you often see on the bigger hummingbirds, causing some confusion. It is a big hummingbird, and when you see the white very broad tips to the outer tail feathers you can be sure of the identification, since this is unique among the Mexican hummingbirds. |
