Immature. ♂. Pantheon. Young male with yellow gape. The plumage in general looks like the old bird's, but it looks like a brighter lore could be a character of the young bird. Male Italian Sparrow looks like a mix between Eurasian Tree Sparrow and House Sparrow, with the brown crown without black cheek spot, and a large black chin and throat spot. Pretty common in Rome and Florence throughout. |

♂. Pantheon. Male in basic plumage. Fresh upper breast feathers obscuring the black breast underneath. The bill is completely black during the reproductive period, but becomes female like outside of it. |

Pantheon. Young female with yellow gape and broad gray beige eyebrow. According to literature females are not recognizable from females of House Sparrow. Maybe this is correct comparing with House Sparrows closer to Italy, but it is my opinion that birds from Denmark, or Mexico! for example, have a colder grayish tone to the plumage in general. |
