2020-06-19 Gjerrild (djursland), Denmark Subspecies: [monotypic] Adult male with the pronounced red parties. Breeding birds in Denmark are consequently of this species. Traditionally cabaret was said to be smaller and more brownish than flammea, but apparently there is much overlap, and studies in general are suggesting to lump the two, again, to become one species. Interesting to see a cast of pink on part of the rump feathers. Not a feature I'm familiar with in this species - the base color is normally only white. |
