2009-04-26 Playa del Carmen (roo), Mexico Subspecies: fulviventris Adult. This species is a notorious skulker. Hear it often but rarely see it. This one too, sitting in the shadow well hidden. The photo cheats. Caribean Dove has a more white head and throat. |

2012-03-16 Pantanos del aeropuerto de Manzanillo, Mexico Subspecies: angelica Now with more experience I can say that this species is easy or difficult to get to actually see, depending on the locality one visits. Why this is, I don't know, but maybe it has to do with the density of the population. |

2015-08-04 Barranca de Oblatos-Huentitán (jal), Mexico Subspecies: angelica Typical almost suppressed call that you often hear. However the birds you don't see that often; mostly because it can be difficult to figure out where the sound comes from. |

2019-06-07 Rancho Primavera (El Tuito - jal), Mexico Subspecies: angelica (by location) Adult. Only Leptotila in area, but sympatric White-winged Dove can in some angles cause confusion if the blue around the eye and the white wing lining on the latter is not seen. Rufous underwing coverts as seen in photo 3 is characteristic for the Leptotila doves. |

2019-06-07 Rancho Primavera (El Tuito - jal), Mexico Subspecies: angelica (by location) Adult. The four outer tail feathers showing the name-giving white tips. Here around the feeders at the ranch the species is easy enough to see, but otherwise it is a species you are much more likely to hear from within the forest or tall scrub. |
