2020-05-16 Kalvebod Fælled, Denmark Subspecies: [falcinellus by location] Reasonable to id in photos, but easy in the field in comparison with Dunlins, Common Redshank and Kentish Plover. Easiest to confuse with Temminck's Stint which are also dark and white with dark breast, and smaller than Dunlin. But the obvious lines in the heads and the back, in some photos, and the hunchbacked appearance are good indications of a BBSA. Saw 10 this day which is a very good number in this part of Denmark. Probably due to cold and wet weather with westerly winds. Digiscoped |
