2020-10-24 Kalvebod Fælled, Denmark Subspecies: [monotypic] Sydtårn. Not close enough for aging. Discovered yesterday by SEK. Also seen flying, showing diagnostic white tail and no white wedge up the back. Appeared more whimpsy and light than also present ruffs. Thin pointed bill and overall size could give associations toward Marsh Sandpiper, but the neck and head appeared longer and narrower, and the overall coloration of the upperside probably was too dark grayish. The yellow legs did not stand out in my scope, because of the distance and an old model, but some color was perceivable, as seen in the poor photos. Foraging, healthy looking, and flying around when disturbed with the other water birds when raptors were on the wings, peregrines, hen harrier, sparrowhawk. Present when I left. A new DK species for me. A flying postcard from Mexico... Rare |
