Winter bird. Yellow orange legs, short bill and round head make it possible to id this species/bird even from a distance.

Dark, compact body and long wings in low flight above the ground; Typical for this species. Marked wing band is a character most Charadrius plovers show, but the dark base color is a good indication of this species. Bright outer tail with dark central feathers and blackish toward the tip is shown by most of these plovers and probably is not a useful identification character.

Middle bird in almost complete alternate plumage. Compared with Great Ringed Plover (C. hiaticula) from Europe, semipalmatus has a darker red orange colar to the base of bill as well as less orange leg color.

Predominantly birds in basic plumage. Here with one Wilson's Plover, which only is distinguished by the rusty color on the head and the stronger bill.
