      2cy male. Broad wings and little contrast between head and throat separates it from Ruby-throated Hummingbird (Archilochus colubris). The male has a longer tail projection than the female. The red on the throat is fruit color.

      2cy male. Beginning dark throat marking indicate 2cy male. The species: The outer primaries are very broad which is an indication of Black-chinned in favor of Ruby-throated. Also the fact that the primaries fall clearly shorter than the tailtip but not too much is a good indication of male Black-chinned.
