Common Wood-Pigeon (Columba palumbus palumbus) Pigeons and Doves (Columbidae) Søndersø, Sjælland, Denmark 2019-01-11 Two fat adults foraging. I have nothing against all type of birds being fed according to their nature but when just a single one of these voluminous creatures can, and will, empty your feeder with husk-less Sunflower seeds in less than no time, the small bird, and wallet, defender says stop. Have done. Now the small ones will only be fed the seeds with the husk intact. The pigeons still approach now and then, hoping to find some spill on the floor. But that is not happening because the tits always fly away from the balcony with the seed and open and consume it elsewhere, and the pigeons leave empty-billed. Good for the two in the photo the weather is mild and it should be easy for them to find plenty of wild seeds on the forest floor. |
