Whooper Swan (Cygnus cygnus) monotypic Ducks, Geese and Waterfowl (Anatidae) Kalvebod Fælled (Vestamager), Amager, Denmark 2017-01-15 A pair. Characteristic with the yellow on the bill ending in a point long down the bill. Contrary to Bewick's Swan where the yellow ends in a vertical line around the nostrils. Common winter visitor in Denmark. Notice the bright iris on the close up bird. Uncommon? Can't find any information online about this - also Reeber in the new waterfowl book doesn't mention anything about it. |
