Tundra Swan (Cygnus columbianus bewickii) Ducks, Geese and Waterfowl (Anatidae) vestamager, Amagerr, Denmark 2019-01-14 Adult with completely white plumage and yellow on the bill. The extension of yellow varies from bird to bird, some are yellow all across the base of the bill whereas this one shows the other extreme, with yellow restricted to the sides of the bill. When seen together with Whooper Swan, picture 9-13, the size difference is obvious and when bills are seen, as is the limited extent of yellow on Tundra. The species has become scarcer during the later years and is particularly rare to find roosting in this part of Denmark, and even less so wintering as is the case with this single bird. |
