Purple-crowned Fairy (Heliothryx barroti)
Purple-crowned Fairy (Heliothryx barroti) monotypic
Tikal PN, Petén, Guatemala
Female without purple on the head. Almost the first bird we saw when we arrived, and at a very anonymous spot: The thicket at the corner of the eastern entrance to hotel Tikal Inn. There were no indications that this should be a hummingbird hotspot, but nevertheless, this was where I also saw both hermits, and all three of them, just once and very briefly.
