Adult type. Honestly, I didn't register this bird until I went through the photos on the screen back home! When a small flock of large swifts came in to forage over our heads on the hill top above Yelapa, Chacala road, I checked the first ones and they were White-collared, which I therefore assumed that the whole flock would be. So while talking I just took photos every time a swift approached close enough.
All the other photos show birds with clear white collar. The present birds are very different with all black plumage, powerful proportions and lack of forked tail. The latter being diagnostic compared to White-collared. It looks like the bird flying away is another individual because it has a notch in the tail and the other bird has a notch in the wing. Neither White-collared nor White-naped are supposed to be down by the sea, but they are very strong fliers and are probably moving much more around than is understood today.

Profile very similar to White-collared Swift, but tail is not forked. 35 birds in a flock this day, and were foraging very low over the ground next to a few houses, close to the highway. Not very swift-like, but good to know that you should also look for they away from where you would normally expect to find this type of bird.
