Adult. Seemed rather confident. The picture is taken as handheld binophoto using the coolpix.

Adult. Revealed by its discrete djuk call. Think this species is more confident and approachable than its close relatiave Greater Roadrunner. The two are best separated by unstreaked throat and chest on Lesser. Apparently the red spot after at the end of the blue eye-patch is not as easy to see on Lesser as on Greater. Or perhaps it isn't always present? From the side it looks more or less like Greater Roadrunner. Separated most easy from Greater Roadrunner when seen from in front.

Adult and unmistakable except for sympatric Greater Roadrunner which, however, is completely streaked across the chest and is also much rarer in this part of Mexico. Never saw it around Cd. Guzmán and the volcanoes. Lesser, on the contrary, is more common, but still not to be expected on every outing.

Flying. This bird was singing spontaneously from uphill, and it was a big surprise to see it coming out soaring through the air downhill into cover. Never saw a flying roadrunner before! Had I just been faster I would have had the bird with a blue sky as background overhead...
