Black Oystercatcher (Haematopus bachmani) monotypic Oystercatchers (Haematopodidae) Puerto de Ensenada, Baja California (Bcn), Mexico 2010-11-10 Female probably. In the southern part of the distribution area (here) the females has a tendency to show white tips to belly feathers. Generally in the area one has to be aware of hybrids with the American Oystercatcher, which are rather common. |
