2cy bird. Compared to Black-crowned Night-heron the bill is darker and more blunt. Also the base color is more dark brown, and the plumage does not have any large white spots. A rather common species here on the coast.

2cy bird. Same as 1619. Here the uniform dark brown upper part is easier to see.

1cy bird. The dark brown appearance with the dark blunt bill indicate this species. Notice that the white tips to the wing coverts, which are normally smaller on the juvenile than on the 2cy bird, here have all been worn off.

Adult. The yellow around the eye and at the base of the bill look unusual. I'm not sure if it is some kind of contamination, or an innate condition?
