	333 (1 photos) 2009-08-23 Presa El Salvador, El Llano, Aguascalientes (Agu), Mexico Adult male. Resemblance with Allens Hummingbird (Selasphorus sasin) makes it sometimes impossible to separate the two species. But this well-marked male with orange back (see pic 334) leaves no doubt.

	2536 (13 photos) 2017-10-07 El Salvador northwest of Guadalajara, Jalisco (Jal), Mexico Adult female with strong throat patch. The combination of orange flanks and extended orange at the outer tail base and short wing compared to the tail exclude female Broad-tailed and Calliope. R2 apparently is emarginated which, in combination with no orange-buff edges to upper tail coverts and the fact that the outer tail feathers look rather broad exclude female Allen's. However, this is said with all precautions taken since the two are very much alike and normally cannot be safely identified in the field or from bad photos like these.
